PUNCH &
JUDY - PUPPET SHOWS - CHILDREN'S PUPPETEERS
|
|
Introduction
The roots of the famous Mr
Punch can be traced back to wandering performing troupes of 14th century Italy.
Pulcinella, a hook-nosed buffoon was a popular character in the comic plays of
those actors. Spreading through Europe Mr Punch acquired a wife and by the end
of the late 17th century the Punch and Judy show was firmly established. By the
mid-1800's the Punch and Judy show had entered its own era with nomadic punchmen
performing at country fairs, seaside resorts, homes and in the streets of towns
and cities.

Making the best use of
If
you are holding a children's fun day event, birthday or Christmas party it has
got to include the children's favourite punch and Judy or puppet show.
Puppeteers provide a great value for money show that will keep the children
amused and mesmerised with the story line for the entire length of the colourful
show. No childhood will be complete without seeing a puppet show and memories of
Punch and Judy puppet shows will last a lifetime. |
|
How many do I need?
Puppet shows come in many different formats with a wide variety of colourful
characters, different story lines and lengths of shows, but generally speaking
for most children's parties and events one puppeteer is usually adequate.
However, if you are holding a larger event with large numbers of children
expected to attend and wish to have puppet shows put on continuously all day,
you may need to consider using several puppeteers. |
