Introduction
A fascinating part of the British industrial revolution was the introduction of steam powered machinery that helped transform the way in which many products were produced and transported around the country. Today beautifully restored working steam traction engines and machinery can be seen exhibited and displayed at steam rallies and events up and down the country. Many steam engine restorers and enthusiast love to show off their hard work and what a great way than at your local event, show or even at your wedding.

Making the best use of
There are many events held up and down the country specifically themed around working steam engines and traction engines. Steam engine pulling displays and demonstrations still draw very large crowds, clearly showing the fascination that the general public has with steam engines. Apart from providing a great visual attraction for your outdoor event, steam traction engines make a fantastic backdrop for any wedding or similar function.
How many do I need?
Depending upon the space you have available and the size of event you're holding the more steam traction engines that you are able to have attend your event the more impact the display will have. Talk to steam engine club secretaries who will be able to advise you as to how many members and engines they may be able to provide. One suggestion may be to have a mixture of working steam traction engines and static utility engines. 
Booking suggestions
Steam traction engines are always in great demand particularly by many of the organisers of larger events and shows being held throughout the year. Topped with the fact that many steam clubs organise their own steam rallies can make it very difficult to arrange individual bookings if left to the last minute so make enquiries as early as possible. Fees. Donations may be required by the club or engine owner to cover expenses and costs.
Regulations, insurance and other useful notes
It may appear that there are numerous steam traction engines out there but as the restoration cost grows, metalworking skills needed for restoring and maintaining these engines die out the numbers are declining.
