AUTUMN EVENTS - FIREWORKS - HALLOWEEN
STEP1. PLANNING
Plan your Halloween and fireworks party
early Once the late summer holidays are over its surprising how quickly the autumn
approaches, so start planning your event as early as possible. Give yourself as
much time as you can, you'll be surprised at how fast the weeks go by when
you've got a lot to organise. If you are planning a larger firework display or
event you ideally need to start your initial planning about six months before to
avoid last minute panics and disappointments. Three months is more realistic for
smaller community events and should be enough time to organise event activities.
This should give you plenty of time to carry out the important following tasks
and obtain specialist advice and information where necessary, particularly if
you're organising a bonfire night event or firework display.
Notify statutory authorities (i.e. local authority entertainment
department, police, fire and ambulance services) of your proposed event. Apply for an entertainment license (if applicable) Book the venue or site where the event is to be held. Risk assess your event and event venue or site. Arrange public liability insurance cover. Book firework displays, caterers, amusements, entertainers, attractions,
activities and services etc. Advertise and promote your event to the public.
It will also allow time for voluntary organisations (i.e. first aid societies,
etc) to make their arrangements, especially if they are needed to attend the
event.
