SUMMER EVENTS - FETES - FUNDAYS - FESTIVALS
STEP1. PLANNING
Financial planning continued Once you have worked out exactly what services you intend to hire, you will
need to get quotes from various businesses who can provide the services. A great
way to do this is to use the countyfetes free
email service where we will send
out your event requirements to advertisers, those businesses interested in
attending your event will contact you with prices etc.
Right, so you've got all your quotes and you
know exactly what everything is going to cost. Now you have to work out where
money will be raised from and estimate how much its likely to be. Will you be
charging at the gate to enter? Will you be selling tickets in advance? Will your
event be free to visit? In which case will you be relying on the funds raised
from stalls, raffles etc.
Now comes the mathematics, simply deduct the
cost of services you intend to hire from your estimate of funds that you expect
to raise. If your event is to succeed financially and give you the confidence to
fund your event, you will need to see at least a small surplus figure after
doing your calculations. If on the other hand you appear to be out of pocket and
your event is likely to lose money, you will need to make adjustments by
increasing entry or ticket prices etc. Cutting down on services you hire is
probably not the best solution as a lack of facilities and entertainment could
result in even further loss of people attending your event. Better to put on a
good show to attract visitors and charge a little more.
